Spring has sprung. Or so they say. Whoever "they" are. I guess "they" are the same people who can switch Daylight Savings Time to whatever week of the year they want. Must be nice to have such power. Anyways, our spring arrived rather unobtrusively........the only way to really tell it was here was that the precipitation falling was rain instead of :) I like spring, mainly because it means that SUMMER is on the way! And what could be better than that? I have seen the weather forecast for the next week, and it indeed looks like spring will be here to stay. I actually like spring for three reasons (well, at least three that I can think of at the moment) --

  1. Tulips!! My favorite flower ever is seen everywhere.
  2. Warmer weather!! This goes without saying. Almost.
  3. Baseball season!! Go Yanks!

Anyways, enough cheerfulness. I went to the dentist today and discovered I need to have a bit of work done. Well, of course, I knew the tooth that was broken would have to have something done to it, and yep, it needs a root canal. Oh joy. As much as I am terrified of the dentist, the thought of the procedure itself did not freak me out as much as the cost did, but we will get through it, just like we do everything else. There are also a couple of small cavities that need to be filled, but the dentist said the rest of my teeth look great, which is a blessing in itself. I really did not take care of my teeth very well when I was a kid, only in the past 2-3 years have I started with that. So hopefully these will be the last of my dental woes. And I'm also going to preach at everyone I can about the importance of brushing your teeth when you're a kid. It's not just some dumb thing your mom makes you! I am very thankful, however, that it is not any worse. I have a new dentist, and he seemed pretty great (for a So I guess I have an {exciting} few weeks coming up.

Well,my cat is in the process of eating my tennis shoe, so I guess I should feed her royal highness. I hate that she has such power over

good weekend

Yay for weekends!!!

On Friday night, three of Jamie's brothers came over, and we all played cards. Yep, it was four guys and one little me, but it was pretty fun. We've been doing this for the last few weeks is nice that I can get along with his brothers so well (ages 15, 17, and 19).

Saturday, Jamie had to work all day. So I was sad and moped around the house all day........not. Beth (Jamie's sister) and I went shopping!!! We went to one of the bigger malls about 35 minutes away, b/c the little thing we have in our town that is SUPPOSED to be a mall is really......well, not. :) And we are serious shoppers, therefore we cannot shop in a sorry excuse for a mall. Plus it was a good opportunity to go away for the day. I didn't do too much damage to my bank account......I got Old Navy flip flops, a cute little bag/purse, two shirts, and the cutest hoodie ever made on planet Earth! Oh, and lunch at Taco Bell, which, incidentally, we don't have in this town either. Why do we live here again? :) Overall, I'd say it was a very successful trip. I got home around 3:30, took a nap until Jamie got home around 6:00. Then it got a little dreary (but not b/c Jamie came made supper and then I had to go to work. Ick.

Sunday is always a good day. We enjoyed the Sunday morning service, and then were invited over to an older couple's home for lunch. Which, of course, we greatly enjoyed and appreciated, b/c one Sunday a month, we stay in town for the day to go to a nursing home in the afternoon (we live about 30-40 minutes away from our church). So it was very kind of them to have us over. After lunch, we went to the nursing home, and had a wonderful service with the people there. It is always encouraging to see how they look forward to the days that we come. I play the piano, and Jamie brings a small message, and they just love it. Those are always some of my favorite days. Afterwards, we went back to the older couple's home and relaxed until the evening service. The speaker in the PM service was a young man who is going to be planting a Baptist church a bit north of us. Of course, that is great to see.......Canada is in dire need of good churches. For a population of 30+ million people, there are only about 200 decent Bible-preaching fundamental churches. That is not nearly enough!! One church for every 150,000 people? Outrageous! Our church likes to support mission works in Canada for this very reason.

Today is just chillaxing day, I guess. I got a surprise box in the mail this morning from my mom, so that made my day. Jamie has an early day today, and should be home around 2:30 or so. I'm just going to rest a bit after working last night. I should also probably work on the laundry.

Prayer Requests

  1. My mama is having surgery on March 27th. It could end up being very extensive, so please pray that all goes well.
  2. My sister's baby is due pretty much any day now.
  3. I have to go to the dentist on Wednesday, due to some major pain I have been having on the left side of my mouth. I know this sounds mundane, but I hate going to the dentist more than I hate anything in the world, and I just want to try to relax. As if! But God can do it.

new pics

Just thought I'd share these.......

here is my big baby :)

she is such an unwilling subject for photos :)

it's official.......

.......I'm not so great at rolling out pie crusts! This may come as a shock to most everyone, but there are some things I simply do not excel Anyways, I had a pretty good time making my apple pies despite my lack of perfection. I was making a pie to take to my in-laws, and decided to make an extra one to leave at home. Gotta keep the hubby happy! :) They turned out great, the crusts just looked a little less than perfect. Oh, and it wasn't so fun peeling all the apples.......I seem to have lost my favorite peeler, and I'm really not so great with a knife -- got scars to prove it. So peeling took longer than normal, the crust took forever...........and it was FUN!! All I had to do was crank up iTunes, and hakuna matata!!

the mounds of apples

ready for the oven

the finished product -- yummy!

Here's an interesting article to read......

I'm not sure what to think! It borders on being disturbing, but it is also quite fascinating! Maybe my inner math geek is shining

More on gas prices, since I am usually so vocal about those. :)

May I say......they are......TERRIBLE!!! I don't know if they are this high everywhere. Apparently, a few weeks ago, there was a fire in an oil refinery around here or something, and ever since then, the prices have been increasing steadily, almost daily. It got to the point where I would pass a station in the morning and see one price......pass it again a couple hours later, it'd be a few cents higher. Yikes!

Anyways, as of today, prices are $1.03 a liter, roughly $3.39 a gallon in US funds. Yikes again.

What are the prices where you are?

I guess it has been about three weeks now since the accident, and I must say I am pleased with the progress I am making. I am a very stubborn and impatient person, so this has been no walk in the park, but every day gets better and better. Compared to so many others who are suffering, my injury has been a breeze, and I am thankful for the recovery God has allowed so far. I am sitting and walking normally again, can even do the stairs pretty well. There is still a great deal of stiffness and pain if it is in the same position too long, but I am able to bend it further and further as each day comes. The doctor said he was quite impressed with the level of recovery so far, and said that I should expect it to be fully healed within six weeks. So about three more weeks to go, and I am fully confident that it will be fine. Now we just pray that there is no lasting damage, no underlying injury that is not apparent right now. As my father-in-law said, let's hope I won't be able to tell the weather with it!!!

Anyways, other stuff.....I am completely back to work now, so that satisfies the part of me that doesn't want to sit around and do nothing. It also helps pay the bills and keep $$$ in the bank account, two things that I always counted a plus. :) I have had lots of company and lots of help, and it's nice to feel normal again.

Items of newsworthy note:

  1. My sister's baby is due March 30.....not too far off now!
  2. My brother and sister-in-law discovered they are expecting another baby at the beginning of September. It will be girl #5!
  3. My mom has been having increasing health issues. I can't really go into too many details, but if you could pray for her, that would be awesome.
  4. The weather is starting to feel almost spring-like! This brings much joy into the winter-darkened/warmth-deprived heart of mine. The temps have been above freezing for a few days now, and I think it is supposed to hit the fifties tomorrow. Divine!!!
  5. I got a brand new vacuum cleaner, the first real one I have had since we've been married. It is awesome and actually inspires me to clean the house once in a while. :)
  6. My mother-in-law is expecting a baby at the end of July. Yes, that's right, I said mother-in-law. Kinda crazy, this will be #12 kid in the family. It's kinda weird to think that my husband will have a new brother/sister, but it's pretty cool as well!!

All right, I'll think of more later, probably. I have been enjoying my normalcy, even mundane house tasks. Everyone around here has been incredible, and I thank God for helping me to heal as much as I have. I am indeed blessed!
