little trip

A couple weeks ago, James and I both had a little time off, so we decided to go on a mini vacation, just the two of us. I really think we need to do this more often!! Usually when we go away, it is to visit family or for some holiday or whatever, but this time, it was just us doing whatever we wanted with relatively no time constraints. That's what makes it truly relaxing, in my opinion.

We just went away overnight, but it was very refreshing. We spent Thursday at Niagara Falls. If you have never visited Niagara Falls, you are definitely missing something amazing. We've been three or four other times ourselves (and James probably countless times beyond that), but we enjoy it so much every time we go. It kinda felt like we were on our honeymoon. :) The day was overcast, so no bright blue skies, but the weather was very ideal for walking around. (Walking around NF is great exercise too!!) The forecast said 50% chance of rain, and it did decide to rain a little bit right when we were getting up around the main falls. Coupled with the wind that was blowing the mist from the falls all across the road, we ended up getting SOAKED. Well, at least our back sides -- our fronts were completely dry. :) We ran across the street into a souvenir shop (loaded with a billion other people trying to avoid the wetness) and bought ponchos with Canada stamped all over them. Well, they were really $2 trash bags with hoods. :) What can you do when you're in tourist land?? After that little shower, there really wasn't any more rain for the rest of the day. We took tons of pics of each other and the falls, and then spent the rest of the day on Clifton Hill (aka Expensive Tourist Land). We try to do something different every time we go, so this time we went to one of the wax museums and the Ripley's moving theater. We also rode the Sky Wheel, a big ferris wheel that overlooks the falls, and ate dinner at the most expensive TGIF's I've ever been in. All in all, a wonderful day.

Oh yeah -- on the way back to the car (pretty long walk cuz we're cheap and don't like to pay for parking), the mist/rain soaked us on the front this time. At least we had dry butts to sit on in the car. :) :)

Sounds like you had a nice time at Niagara Falls! That's one of the places on my "to visit" list:o).

oh yes, you HAVE to go sometime in your life! :) I had always wanted to visit too, and now I am blessed to live only about 2 hours away from it.
